AND THE WINNERS ARE....
Our juror, Deanna Thibault, has selected the winners for the 54th RCAS Regional Exhibition. Click the link below for Show Catalog and Slide Show of winning pieces.
We have several Art Shows each season.
It all starts with our Membership Show in the Fall. Those members wanting to display their 2D work and compete for prizes are eligible to enter. This year the show is an Online Show. A judge will select winning entries and awards which are handed out at the monthly meeting. The prospectus explains rules and guidelines for hanging. Most work is for sale and is a great opportunity to purchase local art.
In the Winter, our Young People’s Scholarship Show hangs in the 3rd Floor Gallery with representation from our talented Richardson high school students competing for cash awards.
Following the Young People’s Show is the Rosemary Cheney Memorial Art Show. This showcases the RISD Elementary students. Forty-one schools send their best art to be displayed in the Library’s 3rd Floor Gallery, with the show traveling to the RISD Professional Building for more viewing by the public.
The Spring Show gives artists a chance to display and compete for prize money and awards. This show is open to any 2D artists in the surrounding communities who are over the age of 18. Sales of the artwork are encouraged. This is a great venue to purchase art pieces locally. The monthly meeting after the show hangs will present awards and prizes chosen by our judge. See the prospectus for rules and guidelines.
Our premier show is the Regional Juried Art Exhibition which is displayed at the Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts. This juried show is open to qualified amateur and professional Texas artists. Prize awards totaling over $6900.00 in cash and merchandise are presented at a reception honoring entrants and their families and friends. Refreshments and music are part of the festivities. Sales of the artwork are encouraged by patrons.
Our final show is a casual display of any artwork that members wish to hang in the 3rd Floor Gallery during the summer months. We call this our Simply Summer Show and Sale.

Cecy Turner Exhibit!
A new solo exhibit, featuring Cecy Turner's artwork, has been installed at the Heights Recreation Center in Richardson, TX. It will be on display from February 4 through April 7, 2020. Texture and the effects of light and shadow are important elements of her paintings. She is fascinated with the glow of reflected light on various surfaces. Painting on location on a regular basis has opened many doors for her. She cannot improve nature, but she can rearrange and simplify it to correspond to what she feels. Traveling abroad has opened up new vistas of color and texture for her She paints to convey the enjoyment and excitement of what she sees. You can see more of her work at www.cecyturner.com.
