EXHIBITIONS

RCAS has several Art Exhibitions each season

It all starts with our Membership Show in the Fall. Those members wanting to display their 2D work and compete for prizes are eligible to enter. This year the show is an Online Show. A judge will select winning entries and awards which are handed out at the monthly meeting. The prospectus explains rules and guidelines for hanging. Most work is for sale and is a great opportunity to purchase local art.

In the Winter, our Young People’s Scholarship Show hangs in the 3rd Floor Gallery with representation from our talented Richardson high school students competing for cash awards.

Following the Young People’s Show is the Rosemary Cheney Memorial Art Show. This showcases the RISD Elementary students. Forty-one schools send their best art to be displayed in the Library’s 3rd Floor Gallery, with the show traveling to the RISD Professional Building for more viewing by the public.

The Spring Show gives artists a chance to display and compete for prize money and awards. This show is open to any 2D artists in the surrounding communities who are over the age of 18. Sales of the artwork are encouraged. This is a great venue to purchase art pieces locally. The monthly meeting after the show hangs will present awards and prizes chosen by our judge. See the prospectus for rules and guidelines.

Our premier show is the Regional Juried Art Exhibition which is displayed at the Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts. This juried show is open to qualified amateur and professional Texas artists. Prize awards totaling over $6900.00 in cash and merchandise are presented at a reception honoring entrants and their families and friends. Refreshments and music are part of the festivities. Sales of the artwork are encouraged by patrons.

Our final show is a casual display of any artwork that members wish to hang in the 3rd Floor Gallery during the summer months. We call this our Simply Summer Show and Sale.
